Erin and I

Erin is my 31 year old daughter who is differently abled. Her Downs Syndrome is part of her identity. She and I have always made art together but about 10 years ago she broke out and started making art in her own style. These days we collaborate on big pieces but she mostly works alone in the studio. She has a lyrical and calm grace about her which comes through in her paintings. She is visually unattached to reality but is able to present the essence of a thing, be it a flower, person, or nature scene. She is also a master weaver and divides her creative energy between painting and working on her floor loom.
